This system has been designed for the sensitive and fast detection of mineral oil contaminants in different matrices such as cosmetics, foodstuff, oils and fats, feeding stuff and packagings. The device is used frequently for routine applications.

CHRONECT Workstation MCPD

3-Monochloro-1,2-propanediol (3-MCPD), 2-monochloro-1,3-propanediol (2-MCPD) and glycidol are among production-related contaminants in oil- and fat-containing foods. They are formed during the necessary refining process in the production of oils. 3-MCPD is suspected of damaging DNA and causing cancer. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) specifies 2 µg/kg body weight as the tolerable daily intake level for 3-MCPD. A harmful effect is also suspected for 2-MCPD. This has already been demonstrated for glycidol. The analysis of these contaminants is becoming increasingly important due to their carcinogenicity. Different methods have been developed for the determination. The CHRONECT Workstation MCPD offers a fully automated solution for the four common methods.

The Atomx XYZ is the second generation combined soil/water autosampler and purge and trap concentrator system in the Tekmar VOC product family. It is the only instrument of its kind to employ a unique automated methanol extraction feature for high level soils in accordance with USEPA Method 5035. Methanol rinsing, dilutions capability and three standard addition vessels all come standard on the Atomx XYZ. The 6 Channel 4700 Precision Diluter represents the next generation in accurate canister standards preparation. Utilizing a combination of precise gas flow control, exact pressure measurements, and an ultra-inert flow path, the 4700 is capable of performing multistage dilutions for achieving standards ranging from part-per-billion to low part-per-trillion. The 4700 works with canisters and Bottle-Vacs™ to create dilutions up to 100x, and then allows a second dilution of up to another 100x to yield a total 2 step dilution of up to 10,000x.

Entech has been developing new technology to improve canister monitoring for over three decades, and our latest announcement may be the greatest single advancement in canister analysis to date. The SkyCan™ Autosampler represents a giant leap forward in bringing today’s canister laboratory inline with other GCMS laboratories, by placing canister samples above the GCMS, maximally close to the sample preconcentrator prior to analysis. The SkyCan Autosampler improves system integrity by removing the sample-to-sample variability present in multi-inlet rotary stream select valve autosamplers. Stream select autosamplers are further compromised by the long residence times of sampling in each line, making it difficult to achieve low and consistent background levels after exposure to higher concentration samples. With the lowering of allowable background levels (e.g. EPA Methods TO-15A and 327), autosamplers that rely on rotary valves may no longer be capable of consistently achieving the extremely low blank levels required to provide sample analysis at parts per trillion detection limits.
