CHRONECT Workstation MCPD

3-Monochloro-1,2-propanediol (3-MCPD), 2-monochloro-1,3-propanediol (2-MCPD) and glycidol are among production-related contaminants in oil- and fat-containing foods. They are formed during the necessary refining process in the production of oils. 3-MCPD is suspected of damaging DNA and causing cancer. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) specifies 2 µg/kg body weight as the tolerable daily intake level for 3-MCPD. A harmful effect is also suspected for 2-MCPD.
