On October 15-17, 2024, the "Training Course on Space Multiomics Mass Spectrometry Technology and Application" was successfully held in Beijing. Sponsored by the Personnel Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, sponsored by the Institute of High Energy Physics, and hosted by the Human Resources Department of the Institute of High Energy Physics and the Space multiomics Mass Spectrometry Platform of the Testing Center of the Institute of High Energy Physics, the training course invited experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University and other related fields, aiming to promote the application of space multiomics mass spectrometry technology. Strengthen the exchange of the latest research results in related fields, help scientific and technological personnel to master new skills and new methods, broaden their horizons, and improve scientific experiment skills and the use of experimental instruments.

In order to deepen the application of AC laser denudation technology in space multi-omics research, Esensing and Teledyne Photon Machines with a series of laser denudation solutions actively participated in the conference.

Dr. Ciprian Stremtan, expert at Teledyne Photon Machines, shared the report - Recent Application Advances in Laser Ablation for Mass Spectrometry explained in detail the development and trend of LA-ICP-MS imaging technology, especially sharing that the IRIDIA laser denudation system can be used in combination with different brands of stable isotope mass spectrometer and cavity ring-down spectroscopy on the market. The latest research hotspot and potential of laser ablation technology in the fields of biology, clinical medicine, food safety and geological analysis are introduced.

On the sidelines of the conference, the participants visited the laser denudation element imaging laboratory. The laboratory is a cooperative laboratory between the Test Center of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Teledyne Photon Machines, which is committed to jointly promoting the localization of laser ablation technology in China.


IRIDIA Laser Ablation System mentioned in the report is working in the laboratory, and the participants have come forward to exchange information. IRIDIA Laser Ablation System combined with ICP-MS and ICP-TOFMS is a powerful chemical element detection method, which has the advantages of simple sample pretreatment, simultaneous determination of multiple elements, high throughput, high sensitivity, wide linear range and in-situ analysis. This method not only avoids complicated sample pretreatment, but also can be applied to in situ isotope analysis of solid samples to reveal the changes of isotope composition on the micro scale. The researchers of the Institute of High Energy demonstrated the element imaging experiment of LA-ICP-TOFMS on the coronal section of the mouse brain, and showed the rapid distribution analysis of various elements on the two-dimensional scale in real time.


IRIDIA Laser Ablation System can achieve ultra-high spatial resolution in sub-micron to micron scale, and with low dispersion and rapid elution time, can realize in-situ rapid injection at the tissue-cell-whole animal level, so as to provide a more direct and reliable analysis means for the study of various elements in different substrates metabolism, absorption, transport and other biological clinical research. In addition, IRIDIA Laser Ablation System is also widely used in geology, environment, materials, archaeology and other fields.
